 STYLISH SOUTH AFRICAN FASHION FOR MEN

 

South Africa is one of the most stylish countries for me. A lot more countries are also fashionable because, oh well how can you not be fashionable when you have feelings, moods, a brain and a body. Fashion is expression, art and a lot more. Wealth plays a vital role in the world of fashion and style, South Africa is a gold mine in this case - a gold mine of culture and art.

 

Here are some ways to put the wealth into good use, the creations of our elders and ours. You can wear and style these in various ways. Let the ideas flow, I know it is not the easiest of things to do if you are a guy, women have more ways to express themselves through fashion due to societal norms but here what society likes and you can use:

 

1. Patterns

 

So when I was a youngin’, a very cute one by the way I had a jersey with patterns, one of the best jerseys I have ever owned. I am now seeing a lot more pattern fashion in clothing for both genders. Cultural patterns of different kids ( though I have to say there is still more to explore ).

 

The next time you shop around get a pair of socks with patterns, a jacket with patterns, t-shirt, trousers and anything else wearable. The thing about patterns is they have the power to make simply styled outfits look more unique and thought-out.

 

You do not need to pair them together ( that is risky but can still look good when done right ).

 

2. Pantsula will forever remain in fashion

 

Pantsula fashion has only elevated and become more diversified but that’s a merging of township casual with formal  except you can wear it to much more places. Give it a shot. It works for pretty much everyone.

 

3. Traditional wear

 

This was most likely expected, what is South Africa without its traditions. Almost every tribe has given its contribution to the modern South African fashion.

 

There are many ways to approach it. You can use the colours, the material, the pairing.

 

Try pairing your simple items with your normal outfits ( preferably formal or formal casual ) with your traditional items.

 

4. Skhothane

 

Skhothane fashion is in actual fact luxurious, you do not need to go all the way with it if you do not have the bravado. You can pick and choose the items. Many of the items are sporty, bright and some very shiny yet almost all are comfortable except the skinny jeans.

 

Do not overlook skhothane clothing. Brands have taken notice too and are collaborating with skhothane’s to create for the market.
